Vacation Bible School 2014

This is an excerpt from a letter

sent home with the VBS students after camp on Monday!

Enjoy our day through their eyes!

Dear Parents,

WOW – that is the word I would use to describe today! What a GREAT MONDAY we had at St. Mary’s VBS! I can’t say we’ve ever had a Monday go so well, so THANK YOU!
Vacation Bible School 2014
Today we learned to “Imagine with God”. God can do so much more than we can even imagine, but it is up to us to use our God-given talents to try to do things to make this world a better place. We encouraged the children to do 2 nice things for others while at home this afternoon.

We saw how ordinary things can become extraordinary in science with some cool experiments – one even involved an explosion! Tomorrow the children will bring home a secret message for you to see.

Our crafts are still drying – we like to use LOTS of glue! They will come home later this week.

Our bible story was about Queen Esther. Use your bible at home to read from Esther and see what the children will remember. Our bible phrase today is “Sing to God, sing praises to the Lord; dwell  on all his wondrous works!” This is from Psalm 105:2.

And sing praises we did! We learned the song Sing to God in music, and then worked on Workshop of Wonders and Y-O-U! Every family should have gotten a music CD! We hope you will play it a lot this week so the children can learn the music!

One of the best parts of VBS is teaching the children to help others. This year, as part of our VBS mission, we will be collecting school supplies for J.D. Parker Elementary. St. Mary’s is a business partner with J.D. Parker. If your family would like to bring in school supplies to help, we would love it. We will call the children forward each day! This can be something as small as a roll of tape or pencils. It’s about learning to give, and to help “build” a better community!

Don’t forget to check your children’s folders each day for all their important work! They should have gotten a small card today with the bible verse and wonder words. There is an “app” you can download that will make the card come to life! It’s VERY cool -so check it out!

Photos and videos are uploaded to Facebook – like “St. Mary’s Episcopal Church” to see!

We hope all your children had a GREAT day – they certainly had fun while they were here! We had NO TEARS from anyone today! That’s a great MONDAY (especially when you have 3 and 4 year olds!)
We can’t wait to see you tomorrow!

May God Bless You,
Kelly Garner
